Indian experience: new realties in energy «corridors»

Abstract

Oil and gas industry – one of the vitally important not only for the economy, but also for the whole socio-political development of modern India. Construction of the pipeline will enable India to gain regular access to cheaper fuel, which is extremely important for a developing country. The project for the construction of the pipeline could become a factor in increasing the level of mutual trust between the three countries. India must look to the future. Although there are not only economic issues as the return on investment and profi t at a cost. There are other issues bearing on political overtones, as the pressure of third countries on a mutually benefi cial project. Thus, despite all the problems, the idea of the pipeline starts to be implemented, while in the truncated form, but it has great potential and if they are implemented, it could seriously affect the whole situation in the region and beyond.
